My Commitment As A Believer To Always Pray For Our Leaders

Going down my memory lane in decades past, I discovered that most of the problems we have been encountering in our different nations have been caused one way or the other by leaders at the helm of affairs. These leaders have gotten the mandate of their citizens through the ballot box to govern them. To be fair to some of them, they might think they were doing the right thing but those actions ran short of expectations. Do we leave them alone, give up on them or agitate against them. As Christians, we have to set sentiments and partisanship aside and obey the instructions of God in the Bible.
What does the Bible have to say about our attitude towards these leaders? Let see what 1 Timothy 2 : 1-5 (AMP) says:
- First of all, then, I admonish and urge that petitions, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be offered on behalf of all men
- For kings, and all who are in positions of authority or high responsibility, that [outwardly] we may pass a quiet and undisturbed life [and inwardly] a peaceable one in all godliness and reverence and seriousness in every way.
- For such [praying] is good and right, and right, and [it is] pleasing and acceptable to God our Savior.
- Who wishes all men to be saved and [increasingly] to perceive and recognize and discern and know precisely and correctly the [divine] Truth.
- For there [is only] one God, and [only] one Mediator between God and men, the Man Jesus Christ.
Today, in several areas of the world, people curse their leaders for their wickedness, unfairness, injustice and destructive ways they have governed. Note this, the more we curse and disparage them, the more confused and ineffective they will become! The more corrupt and selfish they become!
Let us pray :
- Almighty God, I ask that your Spirit of wisdom and revelation be given unto our leaders in the knowledge of Him. (Ephesians 1 : 17).
- I pray O God that you also give these leaders understanding of who God is and what they are chosen to do for their citizenry.
- I bind every mindset of exploitation, dictatorship, demonic hegemony and idolatry in governance.
- By the power in the blood of Jesus, I bind and demolish satanic strongholds and policies established within all political parties in all nations of the world.
- Let our leaders be blessed with Godly teams that will lead us into abundance and prosperity.
- Thank You O Lord for those leaders that are equipped and prepared to stand up for holiness, truth and righteousness. Give them the anointing and boldness to challenge those who want to to remove the principles of prayer, freedom and justice from the system in Jesus name.
- I pray that you give your people vision and foresight in voting for the right godly leaders that will usher in peace, unity and progress.
- Thank you Lord for answered prayers.
